From bricks
to big builds.

Southern Cross Developers was founded in 1995 by John Tyrrell, who trained as a bricklayer and spent years running masonry crews across large alpine resort projects before coming home to the border country. He brought a simple idea: that a builder who still understood trades could deliver better buildings than one who didn't.

That principle is still the company's edge today. SCD employs tradesmen directly — not just a management layer on top of subcontractors — which gives the business tighter control of programme, quality and cost on every project it runs.

Over three decades, the company has delivered airports, hospitals, stadiums, fire stations, automotive dealerships and early learning centres across Albury-Wodonga and North East Victoria. Three regional Commercial Builder of the Year awards mark some of those milestones — but the work speaks louder.
